Punkin Chunkin

19th Annual Punkin Chunkin took place in Sussex County Delaware, just north of the Mason-Dixon Line (which used to divide the North & South before the Civil War) on a huge open field about one mile long, during the weekend of November 5,6 & 7 and my oh my was it a sight to see. Three days of "let's see how far a Pumpkin can fly thru the air..."

...via very organized categories: centrifugal, catapult, trebuchet, human power & the big boysÖair cannons! During competition pumpkins must weigh between 8-10 lbs in the adult and youth categories. After the competition, thatís when the fun and Free-for-All starts and all sorts of things were 'chunked'. Quite the scene, a free flying pumpkin frenzy.

At the end of the day the standing stood as follows:

1st Place: Old Glory with 4224.00 feet
2nd Place: Second Amendment with 4065.60 feet
3rd Place: Fire & Ice with 3970.00 feet

FYI...the world record, 4434.28 feet held by 2nd Amendment, was not broken.

We made loads of new friends, ate pumpkin funnel cake, lemon shake-ups and amazing bbq. I donít think thereís any question, weíll be there next year!
